All that Money Spent on Polaroid….

January 18, 2009

And they still went out of business. Dummies.

Polaroids

1989 collage of 35mm Polaroids — about a month’s worth. (larger)

Polaroids

1992 — Blowing off leftover 8x10 Polaroids in Corning. Don’t I look evil in my Gap cords and Vasque hiking boots? (larger)

Those pants inadvertently make me rock the M.C. Hammer.

If you haven’t guessed from my recent series of nostalgic posts, I’ve been cleaning and “organizing” — found a bunch of valuable art-photo books amongst the clutter. I’ve been pausing way too long over dozens of boxes and portfolios and piles of photo debris. I have over five feet of edited negatives in binders… found a stash of 20-yr-old mat board, etc.

I think I may have accidently tossed out Emmet Gowin’s first edition “Petra” — which sells for around $1000 these days! Sweet potato Jesus, it wasn’t that nice a book!

Been playing with old-fashioned roll film cameras lately. I can’t wait to do a new shoot. With somebody. For fun.

Leaving for the inauguration Monday night. I wonder where we’re all — me and a million sobbing black grannies — going to pee? Halajulah, halajulah mofo….

I knowww! It sucks, plus that's just another piece of American History GONE. I have two authentic Polaroid pack films left & that's it.
I wanna waste them on something grand!

I went to the inauguration as well! I know there were something like 2 million of us there, but it is way wild to know that a photographer whose blog I read regularly was there too.
