Some Other Body Parts

Jem and the Holograms
I have a sneaking suspicion that I may have lost a good paying project because of the nature of my recent work….
So I asked an old friend — who I know hasn’t been looking at my website lately — for her impressions of it. She’s a worldly New Yorker (she’s been photographed by Aeric Meredith-Goujon — she’s hardly a prude.) And her comment was, “Wow, so many boobs!” Errr… great, it looks like I’m getting typecast. I hereby declare a moratorium on boobage for a bit. At least the teat-chewing pix… until I hang out with those girls again.
The idea is to push myself into taking some photographic risks, with the desire of showing people something exciting and new. I’m certainly not trying to chase anyone away… but I’ve committed myself to this direction and to steal an old 1980s line, “The safe way is a supermarket.”

That is always a challenge as photographer, to step out of the comfort zone and try something new. Your boob pictures are way out of most photographers’s comfort zone but I guess it kind of is yours. I wish you luck and will look forward to any new photographs.

The trouble isn't stepping outside your comfort zone but the comfort zone of others. One's, I should say, not yours personally. There is very little that I feel uncomfortable around, but I am constantly surprised at what others find dicey. There is a certain madness in genius that I probably don't have enough of, one that lets you keep going without approbation. Good luck on all this. I suggest two sites--one for mom and dad and one for the kids. Ho!

Its fine to step outside of comfort zones, but originality and a flare for experimentation is even better. I'm loving your style, but try something wacky, tell a story, give us a metaphor.
